What a year it has been for me!
I whizzed through 2017 feeling exceptionally breathless from all the activity and for good reason, I feel quite ready to do a closure to welcome the New Year. Sure, there were the occasional lows amidst all the highs, but I’ll save that bit of conversation to have over a cup of coffee if you’re keen.
For now, let us look back at what a fantastic travel year this has been!
This weekend, I was in luck to be invited to join the Horowhenua Taste Trail; an event that showcased the variety of fresh produce and food products this district has to offer.
I’ve always appreciated how we’re able to always enjoy fresh and seasonal produce, it just never occurred to me that some of the staples in my kitchen are sourced and grown so near to where I lived!
This place was where it all began – The very first road trip that sparked my wanderlust here in New Zealand. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with bookmarking this place to visit when you’re in the country; There’s so much of an adventurous life and natural beauty all packed within this town and it’s vicinity that it’s worth a visit anytime of the year.
There’s been a couple of occasions throughout the years that had us kept coming back and safe to say, we’ve seen and done quite a lot each time!
Admit it – At some point in your life, you’ve probably oooooh-ed and aaaahhhh-ed at all these visuals of beautiful luxury campsites out in the wilderness that’s dotted all over Pinterest, travel magazines, social media, wishing that you’d be able to experience it at least once in your lifetime.
I definitely fitted that description and after endless browsing, bookmarking tabs and following some pretty inspiring travel feed, we finally got a taste of glamping at the Highfield Forest Retreat, an experience that I highly recommend if you’re ever looking for an unique staycation here in New Zealand.
Some of you would know that a couple of months ago, I did a pretty amazing road trip around Peninsula Malaysia with the best travel companions I’ve ever had. We had a great time throughout, but out of all the places we covered, I’d daresay the general consensus was that our days spent on Penang Island was very hard to beat.
I spent a lot of time researching the accommodation that would suit us – There are plenty of choices when it comes to staying in Penang, but aside from comfort and location, I wanted a place that had a local touch for my Kiwi friends to experience, and that is why I’d like to tell you about 23 Love Lane.
Winter in New Zealand is slowly coming to an end and better weather means more chances to venture outdoors to enjoy some sunshine! Just like today, we took a spontaneous drive down to Wellington and along our journey, we couldn’t resist stopping at Ruth Pretty‘s for some coffee and cake.
For many reasons, Bangkok will always have a special place in my heart.
There’s something about this place; the hustle and bustle of locals flooding the train stations, their niche for art and fashion, the language, the blaring horns of colourful taxis and endless choices of street food that I will never get enough of.
Last month, I flew across the globe to return to this city that was once my second home to attend a beautiful beach wedding. This time, someone special came along with me.
The first time I visited Hamilton three years ago, I left with an impression that it was just like any other city and never gave much thought about it ever since.
Three years later, I recently returned for a weekend getaway up to the Tron City and I left feeling pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it – This time, it was a weekend well-spent with us venturing to several places slightly out of the city that I would definitely encourage you to visit if you happen to be there!
It was only last week that a group of us ladies decided to have a dash of weekend fun up at Hawkes Bay, with wine and dine as our main agenda.
Home to many vineyards that produce some of New Zealand’s award-winning wines, we booked a winery-cycle tour with On Yer Bike Tours and had such a splendid time!
New Zealand’s North Island has seen some amazing weather over the past week, with clear blue skies coupled with a cool breeze that’s ideal for being outdoors!
We decided to take a drive out of town on one of those sunny days just to make full use of the good weather. As we cruised along the road leading towards the Manawatu Gorge, a surprise detour led us to discover an absolutely beautiful gem.
